History

The Dar choral society is a non-profit musical organization based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.  Founded by a European community in the 1940’s Dar Choral Society is one of the classical music groups with a performance history of over 70 years.

Dar Choral Society began as an exclusive society of the English upper class which evolved to be an inclusive and diverse group that bring people of different walks of life, nationalities and cultures together through classical music. It is without a doubt a highlight of classical music in Dar es Salaam and Tanzania at large, with performances that range from great works of Beethoven, Mozart, Handel and many more.

DCS is still opening doors to new members who have a passion for music and the commitment needed for producing great works. The group meet every Wednesday at the Little Theatre from 18:30–20:30hrs.
